Betty Zakheim

President and Principal Consultant

Betty Zakheim is the founder of Outside In Solutions. Betty originally founded Zakheim Associates in 1999. Zakheim Associates was reorganized as Outside In Solutions LLC in 2008.

With three decades in high-tech, Betty has developed a unique background with skill in executive management, marketing management and software engineering. This experience provides the ideal background for developing and executing go-to-market strategies for new markets and products.

In addition to her role as an independent marketing consultant, Betty has served as Vice President of Industry Strategy and Vice President of Marketing for Tasktop, Vice President of Strategy for SmartBear, Vice President of Marketing for CopperEye (a UK-based, VC-backed software company), Vice President of Marketing at InConcert (a Xerox New Enterprise Company), Vice President of Product Strategy at SmartBear, Director of Marketing and/or Product Management at: Progress Software, IBM/Rational Software, IONA Technologies and Lightbridge. Earlier in her career she held several engineering, engineering management and technical consulting positions.

Betty is typically called into to assist in the sales and marketing of very technical, enterprise-class software such as software development tools, middleware, data management and other infrastructure products. Betty's organizational management experience spans companies of 25 to 300,000 employees. She's had media training, and exposure to several different third-party sales methodologies.

In addition to her professional experience, Betty has an eclectic formal education. She holds undergraduate degrees in Psychology, Advertising (from the S.I. Newhouse College of Public Communications) and is a Tau Beta Pi scholar in Computer Engineering. She also received a Master of Computer Science degree from Boston University.
